The Tool Wall
Back to long overdue projects, starting with the workshop. In order to fit the water cylinder and other equipment for the heat pump I had to remove some storage and the units built by the previous owner of the house. The engineers kindly left me a big square of wall space that I could work…

A Capacitor in Time Saves Nine?
The dramatic conclusion to our sewing machine epic is finally here. Will it work? Read on and find out for yourself. I like to fix things. We’ve covered this multiple times before. If I can stop something going to landfill unnecessarily, I’m always up for taking something apart and tinkering. Sometimes it’s an easy fix…

The First Rule of Elna Club Computer is…
…don’t write about the Elna Club Computer. This is a DIY/fix it yourself kind of post. Sarah’s Elna Club Computer sewing machine blew up over the weekend, forcing her to learn how to use an overlocker at very short notice. Whilst it’s useful for overlocking, I’m told an overlocker can’t really do anything else. If…

The Path to Post Mortem
I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time and effort working recently, so perhaps I should mention the sort of thing I do. I am a pathologist. Queue the sharp intake of breath. I can also feel a morbid curiosity taking hold. It’s not for everyone, and to be honest, very few people understand what…

D&D (Darkplace and Dining)
Come with me now, dear Reader, into the depths of my very consciousness. To a place of darkness and true horror. And discarded Peperami packets. A Dark Place This week we stepped into a particularly dark place. A place so dark, in fact, that it is difficult to even begin to explain exactly how dark…

Projects (in Process)
It’s amazing how much stuff around the house you can block out. Little projects here and there that you’ll get round to eventually, but never do. I’m setting out to change that mentality and get the fiddly things done once and for all. First things first, I’m on the… Chopping Block I have been using…

Do Android Sheep Dream of Electric Cars?
This one is a little delayed, but it hasn’t exactly been a normal week. What possessed me to try and do a long journey in an electric car, you might ask? Perhaps I just needed a distraction. You can’t ask a gadget fan if they’d rather have a Polestar 2 or a Vauxhall Astra. It’s…

Arid January
Adding a desert vibe makes it seem a little more exotic. In an effort to give our livers a break, we’ve joined the Dry January bandwagon. Well, we haven’t entirely joined. It’s a mostly dry month, but we’re attending a Burns Night celebration on the 26th of January so there will necessarily be a little…

Island Hopping (Asia 2023 Part 4)
It has been a while, but it’s time to get back to Japan. The car opened up a lot of opportunities for exploration of the main island of Okinawa, but there was no need for motorised transport on the smallest islands we visited. Ferrying out to Aka island on a high speed boat was a…

2024, Don’t be a Bore?
That was a struggle, but titles don’t always come easy. Here’s a little retrospective of the last year. It has been a slightly exhausting start to the year, but one filled with more gaming than the last few months combined. In preparation for this post I had a look back through my archive and found…
