Flash games you should be playing

Flash games are definitely worth talking about, as there are some real gems out there. Not only are they free, but often also awesome. This post is going to be a short one to give you more time to play the actual games. If you are looking to discover some excellent ones, get on stumbleupon! Every few stumbles I come across a decent game, so it’s worth a look. Some of my favourites are:

Every day the same dream – http://www.molleindustria.org/everydaythesamedream/everydaythesamedream.html

From the stirring plot to the fantastic music, there isn’t a thing I dislike about this game. Essentially it’s about a guy stuck living through the same day, getting up to get ready and go to his soul destroying job, only to have to repeat it over and over again. I happily talk about it more, but it’s better to just play the game and see for yourself. This even inspired a fan film, though it couldn’t live up to the game unfortunately.

Loved – http://www.kongregate.com/games/AlexanderOcias/loved

It’s definitely a strange one, but very worth a look. The game starts off asking a benign question – are you a man or woman? Then proceeds to tell you the answer, contradicting you. This gives a flavour of what the whole gameplay is like. At it’s roots, it’s a side scrolling platformer of the garden variety, but that’s not what counts. As soon as you begin you are instructed to follow certain paths, or touch items. Obeying normally is the easier option, but disobeying can also have it’s advantages. The game makes you choose whether to blindly obey, or question the orders and follow your own instincts, dropping in the famous line, “A man chooses, a slave obeys!” courtesy of Andrew Ryan of course.

World’s Biggest PAC-MAN – http://worldsbiggestpacman.com/

This really needs no introduction. An oldie, but still goodie, that has been revamped for the online era. People submit new mazes to add to the growing online collection, and you can play through them, keeping track of which you have completed, and seeing whole world statistics. It’s a really nice idea, and any way of making PAC-MAN more addictive is always welcome. It’s the most free fun PAC-MAN fun I’ve had ever. In case you were wondering, the most paid PAC-MAN fun was PAC-MAN CE, which is damn good.

Hopefully this should get you started. Come back when you’ve played through all of these, and hopefully I should have another round-up soon. Yet again I’m leaving this way too late and I’m about to fall asleep so this is all I can manage for the time being.
