After an early start and a drive to Dublin, we ended up at the airport around 4.15 am. Avoid 4.15 am if at all possible – it is much to early to be pleasant. Adrenaline kept us going, and the promise of having our bags checked all the way through to Siem Reap. The first leg was Dublin to Heathrow with Aer Lingus, and though it was only a 55 minute flight, a combination of a late take-off and falling asleep repeatedly for short stints made it feel much longer. But we made it to London all the same, and are awaiting our second flight. This time it’s Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur, the true long haul. Over twelve hours stuck in a plane. At least we’re stuck in style, in the mammoth Airbus A380. Steven managed to get us on the top deck, so I’m hoping for a quieter journey, though who knows what will happen!
